That is because a sapphire jewel bearing and induction dampening allow the needle to align very quickly without shaking. If you are in a rush or need precision then this is clearly a real advantage. It also provides classic features such as declination adjustment and has a sight so you can take bearings more accurately. It can be easily transported in the included leather case.
