Backed by a three-layer Gore Windstopper membrane, the Mistral has the stuff to keep bone-chilling winds at bay. A mesh backer wicks moisture, while two large underarm zips dump excess heat during the final scramble to the top. Once you reach the summit, pull the snug-fitting hood over your head to lock in warm air, take your camera from the zippered chest pocket, and enjoy the well-earned view from the top.
