I've used this case on a few shorter and a few longer (a few days long)trips. I earlier had size M(because this model is so expensive, that I didn't want to buy the most expensive size), but it was too small for kayaking after all, if doing longer trips than just few hours' evening kayakings. Now I'm using that M-sized one for hiking and bought L-sized for kayaking, because I don't want to refold the map during the day. I picked this model, because it has the attachment holes on all 4 corners. I need all the 4 attachment holes, so I can rotate the map to look at it from a relevant direction, and to attache it from the corner that seems easiest at the time. If I didn't need 4 holes, I would probably have bought some other model, because I actually think this one is too expensive for a map case.
This case also seems to keep water out quite well, if properly closed. And it's nice that one can fold it to half of the size and it's attached with these stick-on things, to not to fall open immediately.
The lace that comes with the case is made of some slippery (but comfortable against skin) material so it might slip away from the 2 buckles. I think the buckles should be tighter for that kind of material. Anyway, of course one can replace the system with any lace and buckle wanted. I only use small carabiners to attache the case when kayaking, so this minus doesn't really matter to me. Not sure if I'm gonna use the lace on the M-sized case that I use when hiking. If it slips off too many times, then I'll invent some other system or just use it without any attachment.
