High, higher, highest - in extreme climates the Phantom 8000 by Scarpa really shows what it can do! These expedition boots were specially developed for high and extreme mountain climbing, drawing on the rich experience of the extreme mountaineer Ueli Steck. They have an impressively sophisticated and refined construction, offering outstanding body-heat retention, while also maintaining a remarkably light weight. The boots consist of an outer shell as well as an inner shoe. The upper shoe and lacing are waterproof, thanks to the sandwich construction of Microtech nylon, cork and EVA foam. At the toes and the heels there are additional, insulating Aerogel inserts. The inner shoe is lined with thick PrimaLoft 400 and is equipped with an additional aluminium layer. This efficiently retains body heat and prevents you feet from freezing. The fabric also provides comfortable cushioning. Since the inner shoe is removable, it can be kept on during the night, so you could wear it in your sleeping bag overnight if need be.
The integrated gaiter ensures even better insulation and prevents snow from getting in. As well as the extremely robust, wear-resistant outer material the shoes also have a wide TPU Rock-Guard surround to protect from sharp stones or ice. The Vibram 0 Gravity Lite running sole comes with large, deep cleats for optimal grip as well as a climbing zone at the front, so that you can easily tackle straightforward climbs. The sole rand makes these boots fully crampon compatible. The low weight of the shoe is thanks to the carbon insole, made from six-layer carbon fibre, which guarantees a good torsional stiffness and load capacity.
Along with numerous other extras, these boots include reflective elements, a waterproof zip and elastic closures on the gaiters. In icy cold and thin air you need a boot like the Scarpa Phantom 8000, which is totally dependable, and yet wont weigh you down!
