The Torque SPD is like a casual downhill shoe and has a cut-out for SPD cleats, which ONeal has designed specifically to leave room for fine tuning. Good thinking! To use the SPD cleats, just remove the perforated sole section. If you leave this section in the sole, the shoes can also be used with flat pedals and are comfortable just to walk in.
These cycling shoes provide the stability you need so you can hit the trail hard. On top of all this, the sole compound is balanced to make them comfortable for walking. But the Torque SPD also has an extra, precautionary detail: its shaft is raised and has thick padding around the inner ankle so that they are protected from painful knocks against the crank. Fine perforations in the upper allow moisture and heat to evaporate and create a comfortable foot climate.
To make sure the Torque SPD Shoe keeps on keeping on for as long as possible, ONeal has manufactured it to be robust, with reinforced lace eyelets. ;"
