While road shoes are subject to spray and the occasional puddle, mountain biking in the damp throws rushing creeks and abrasive mud well into the picture. For this reason, Mavic makes a pair of mountain-specific shoe covers, the Trail H2O.
For water-resistance, Mavic employed its Tech Dry + fabric -- a highly waterproof and elastic material with plenty of the durability that mountain biking demands. And in addition to this, Mavic also gave the Trail H2O scuff guards in abrasion-prone zones for added durability, and taped the seams of the covers to eliminate the risk of water infilitration.
However, if your shoe cover experience has been like ours, you‘ve found that shoe and trail compatibility tend to not go hand-in-hand. Accordingly, Mavic developed what it calls its Trail Grip System as a remedy. Now, Trail H20 covers are compatible with lugged mountain shoes, and with its proper cut and Trail Dry‘s conforming fit, the covers fit snugly around lugs. As a result, the covers aid in shedding mud for the inevitable portage over impassible sections.
The Trail H2Os use Mavic‘s Evo Grip elastic grippers at the ankle in order to hold the cover in place without pinching or cutting off circulation. In fact, this supple feel has been furthered through the grippers‘ incorporation of a broad silicone print at the interior. And to ease the entry and exit of the covers, Mavic has also included a rear zip.
The Mavic Trail H2O Shoe Covers are available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the color Black/black/black.
