The Backcountry 65 from Exped has a capacity of 65 litres and maximum load limit of 24kg. That may sound like quite a bit to lug around, but its realistic for longer trekking tours, expeditions and other backpacking adventures that require you to carry a tent, sleeping bag, stove and everything you may need along the way. Fortunately, the Backcountry comes complete with an excellent carrying system specifically designed for heavy loads. The Exped Backcountry 65 comes with a thermo-formed HDPE (high-density polyethylene) frame sheet and two removable aluminium stays. Plus, it has a special suspension system, keeping the bag closer to your body, which results in better control over the load. The shoulder straps and the wide hip belt are nicely padded, and the hip belt is shaped in such a way as to adapt to hip ergonomics, according to the manufacturer.
Another practical feature is the 3 access points to the main compartment: one through the top, the side and the front. That way you wont have to fiddle around with this huge monster of a back every time you need something. The Backcountry 65 has an array of other small details that make trekking heaps of fun. Try it out - youre bound to love it!
