Arc'teryx's Alpha Comp softshell line is designed to help climbers push their limits, so it shouldn't really be surprising that the Alpha Comp Women's Hooded Softshell Jacket is most at home on rugged, technical alpine and ice climbs. Like most softshells, the Alpha Comp is stretchier and more breathable than traditional hardshells, courtesy of Fortius 1.0 stretch-woven softshell material that's been reinforced with a three-layer 40D nylon Gore fabric on the shoulders, sleeves, hood. Those panels offer improved waterproofing and durability for those squeeze chimneys, offwidth pitches, and jagged ice. A trim e3D ergonomic fit makes it easy to move, as well as see your harness and feet, and the removable HemLock inserts keep your jacket from sliding out from under your harness. When things get really rough, you can pop the helmet-compatible StormHood over your brain bucket, give thanks to the WaterTight front zipper, and keep on pushing for the top.
